Bee Pollen
The bee pollen is the most important beehive product due to the fact that it represents the main proteic bee food. The proteins are the main bee pollen component - their level can be as high as 24%.
The essential and nonessential amino acids found in the bee pollen turn it into first class vegetable protein. Sugars are represented especially by monosaccharides (the glucose and fructose - sugars that are dirrectly assimilable) and they reach a concentration of up to 27%. The average lipids concentration is 5% and they are represented by fatty acids, free (amongst them being the superior polyunsaturated ones), phospholipids, sterols etc.
The bee pollen contains significant amounts of potassium, calcium and magnesium, as well as important quantities of iron, zinc, manganese and copper. Maybe the most important is selenium, that gives bee pollen the second place after the Brasil nut as far as the concentration is concerned. The bee pollen contains small quantities of sodium, it is rich in B vitamins and contains variable concentrations of vitamin C.
Given this composition, the bee pollen is considered to be excelent food. Thus no wonder it's called the "perfect food". But maybe the most important aspect about the bee pollen composition is the presence of the main natural antioxidants: B-carotene, vitamin C, flavonoids, selenium, zinc, enzymes etc.
From a usage point of view, the bee pollen is an excellent food suppliment, but also very therapeutical. Thus, the use of bee pollen gives very good results in the treatment of anemia, capillary fragility, the chronic fatigue syndrome, immunodeficiency, impotency, infertility, renal disorder, prostate disease, ulcer, menopause syndromes and others.
